"Ringmaster" illustrates our futile attempts to control time. Three people running from the clock and watch represent our effort to flee time, despite our best efforts, it will eventually catch up with us. The front view of the shank is a timepiece, on the reverse, a clown peers from the back of the grandfather clock and overlooks a cemetery, like the ringmaster of a circus, time is ultimately the ringmaster of life.
